Road Trip 5 Dry Creek & Russian River Valleys Windsor ~ Healdsburg loop A parallel loop of the central Russian River region from Healdsburg to Windsor via Old Redwood Highway, Westside, Wohler and Eastside roads. Scenic country roads... flanked by rolling vineyards and madrone, bay, blue oak and redwood trees... traverse the Russian River over historic trestle bridges at the north and south ends of the loop. With the exception of two pre-prohibition wineries, a historic stage stop and hop kiln, most of the wineries of this region sprang up in the mid 1970's. California ranch-style architecture dominates, along with geodesic domes and modern artistic elements. Formal gardens and picnic areas are offered by most wineries for visitors to enjoy. Lodgings include a Victorian mansion & restaurant, Victorian summer house, and country cottages amidst a farm and vineyard.
